The time before the internet..

Times have change ever since the dawn of the internet age. Many technological advancement took quantum leaps towards the future and of course, closed the gap between near and far.

However, underlying this advancement is the deteoration of the real human social life.
It is an inevitable fact that the internet today is a tool/ channel of high speed communication. Communication so fast, that is was as if i was talking to the person in real life.

However, the internet may have succeeded in cutting short communication time, it has failed to deliver the true meaning of the phenomena called ‘ interaction’ .

Humans as like many other living animal are multi sensory being. Therefore, we have the potential to experience touch, sound, sight, smell and taste during the interaction with another person(s). If you actually noticed, interaction via the internet provides none of the above. It doesn’t give you the touch of the person, the sound( unless web cam conference), smell of that person’s perfume, and of course.. the taste of the cake/ coffee while we are catching up.

Unaware, we are being robbed in daylight of the essence of interaction with another person. Its quite interesting to find that people would settle for the exchange of words and sentences as opposed to the full spectrum of sensation that comes from talking, seeing, feeeling, touching, smelling, another person.

Yes, no doubt that the internet bridged the gap of far and near, however it shouldn’t be a tool for people to depend on for their social health. A tool, like the internet should only be a tool of enhancement and not a substitute. In the longer run, if not properly address, human interaction will be limited to the computer and the internet as they would be incompetant at having interaction between each other. BECAUSE they simply just don’t know how to . Have you come across people who are rather quiet but can speak a whole lot online ? … welll … lack of confidence and communication skills is what the internet and computer subliminally transforming us as the human race to a passive being.

With that SAID.. i’m taking a 1 month break from the internet world. 80 percent internet silence, hence this blog/msn/facebook will be stagnant for one month starting today 11 March 2009.

I’ll see you 11 april 2009 .

I will still use my email .. ( work lar.. cannot take one month break from work ) ..
